Common Hob Faults

Not sure how to describe the problem? These are some of the faults we can look at.

Burner won’t light. One or more burners do not light, or go out once lit.

Ignition clicking. The ignition keeps clicking, or does not spark at all.

Flame problems. Small, uneven or unusually coloured flames.

Control knobs. Knobs that are stiff, loose or do not control the flame properly.

Something else. Not listed here? Describe the problem in as much detail as you can when booking.

How the Repair Works

1
Select your hob

Book this Viceroy WRGOGH70 5 Burner gas On repair from our website.

2
Describe the fault

Tell us as much as you can about the problem. The more detail you give, the more likely we are to fix it on the first visit.

3
We may call you

If we need more information about the fault, we will contact you before arranging the visit.

4
Complete your booking

Check your confirmation email straight away to make sure your address, appliance and fault details are correct.

5
Arranging your visit

We aim to contact you within 3 working days to confirm your appointment. Visits take place between 8am and 6pm.

6
Prepare for the visit

Make sure the hob is switched off and cool. If it is sealed to the worktop with silicone, free the sealant before the visit, without lifting the hob or disconnecting any supply. An adult aged 18 or over needs to be at home for the whole visit.

7
Engineer visit

Your engineer uses your fault details to bring the parts most likely to be needed. If a part is not on the van, they will order it and arrange a return visit. Gas work is carried out only by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Why Fault Details Matter

Accurate fault details help your engineer prepare for the visit and bring the right parts, which increases the likelihood of a first-time fix. Let us know what happens when you use the hob, when the problem started, and any noises, error lights or other warning signs you have noticed.

Straightforward, With You in Control

We have designed our repair service to make arranging a repair as easy as possible, and we will keep you informed from booking through to your engineer’s visit.
